2k14 A Year to Remember- Part 1

Why 2014 Rocked:

2014 was a year I will never forget! Probably because it was my favorite year up to date for these 3 reasons:
  • I got engaged to a super hot guy who is now my husband!
  • I got to travel and see more new countries
  • I started back to school(Not as exciting as the first point, i know, but still cool)
At the end of 2013 I was returning from 5 months in China! I sure miss these adorable children!

About 4 weeks after coming back from China(January 26th),  Jonny popped the big question! Maybe I will save that story for another post, but lets just say it was pretty cute! It made top 5 of my most favorite days!

We didn't wait long after our engagement, about 3 months til we got married! Jonny and I were both going to school and I was working so wedding planning was so wild.. I now can say I understand why people choose to elope. Not gonna lie, the thought came to my mind a few times. But April 25th was the most incredible day! How grateful I am for the opportunity I have to have Jonny by my side for eternity!

Those are definitely the top 2 events of 2014!

We did ALOT of traveling during the year!

In February we went down to southern Utah to get our engagement pictures taken by a dear friend, Kirsten Reynolds(If you are down that way, I highly recommend her!!).
But we couldn't pass up the opportunity for a road trip so we drive through Zions National Park with Jonnys brothers(Alex and Andy- aka our road trip buddies). We stopped in the park and ate buffalo burgers which were slightly over priced but pretty delicious!

In March, Jonny attended a Cancer Research conference in San Diego so I tagged along and hung out at the beach all day long! It was so nice and the weather was perfect! We had to stop by Las Vegas on our way back to visit with Jonny's grandpa and also enjoy an additional day in the big city!

Jonny and I moved to Houston for the summer right after we got married in April. For our honeymoon we took a cruise out of Galveston. We stopped by Mexico, Grand Cayman, and Jamaica! That added 2 new countries for us! We snorkeled in gorgeous water, swam with stingrays, jet skied around Jamaica and shopped way too much!

During our Summer in Houston, we took a weekend trip over to New Orleans! I took Jonny  to the WWII Museum and lets just say it felt like Christmas morning for him! He LOVED it! We enjoyed seeing the home of Mardi Gras. Visiting the swamps, spending time with Jonny's dad, eating fried pickles, and enjoying lots of street entertainers were some of the highlights of our trip.  (I actually really really like fried pickles now!)

We enjoyed spending time in Houston and especially seeing the beautiful Houston LDS temple!

At the end of summer, we made the long 25 hour drive back to Utah! We were able to drive through and see all of Texas, New Mexico, and Arizona. We stopped by the amazing Grand Canyon on our way back! If you haven't been there, you are missing out!! It is Gorgeous!

Our travels didn't stop there. August til December we added a few more states to our travel and another country! I will leave that for part 2 of this post.. :)

From Pain to Knowledge: Life After a Miscarriage

I remember that night like it was just last night. I couldn’t believe that it was really happening. I knew immediately that that night was not going to end well. But we rushed to the hospital with a small hope that they could do something to stop it. I remember crying and asking God why I couldn’t have a miracle that night? A miracle to make everything stop and for baby to be okay. What had I done wrong that prevented me from not being worthy of that miracle. I had learned about miracles all my life and finally when it was that time that I wanted and needed that one miracle, it didn’t happen for me. Oh how naive I was. Over the past 9 months I have had a lot of time to sulk in my pain but also more time to ponder, pray and figure out a little more of why things didn’t happen the way I had hoped.
